don't leave/leave

I know it's wrong but I don't want you to leave
stay with me as the ocean clings to the shore
You told me you had to go but I can't release you yet
The pull of the tide is strong and binds you to me
I won't talk, or cry, or even breathe
if you stay next to me through the night
my heart flutters like the wing of a bird
frightened by hawks circling in the azure sky
If you leave me now I will be broken and desolate
fingers clenching empty air as you walk away

leave me now, take only what you brought with you
emptiness and emotions suspended in time will remain

Doves? Pigeons? Souls? I think of the mess they leave behind.

Yes the mess...and it's that soul garbage I'm drowning in!
